Pop Andy
Andy Warhol and the Pop Art Genre
Greg Percy

  Listen to this song.

This song is available on Greg Percy's Songs in the Key of Art, Volume 4.

This song is also available as an Individual Song Download.

He was born in Pittsburgh 1928
He had natural talent, they said, “Boy you draw great“
He made greeting cards, albums covers and such
but it didn’t make him famous, thank you very much

A friend said Andy make things you see every day,
It became POP ART as we know it today
You got one soup can-you need more
You got 2 soup cans-lined up like in a store
you got 3 soup cans-tomato in a row
4,5,6 pop arts the way to go

He made a movie of a man asleep for six hours
On weather maps he drew all of the rain and showers
They liked what he made, they really were attracted
A bit bizarre cause of the way he acted
A friend said Andy make things you see every day,
It became POP ART as we know it today

You got one Marilyn-the big movie star
You got two marilyns-they said she’d go far
You got 3 marilyns-pictures in a row
4,5,6 pop arts the way to go

You got one minute of fame-it’s really not enough
You got two minutes of fame-you’ll have to be tough
You got 3 minute of fame-you got have your limits
Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes!

He was born in Pittsburgh 1928
He had natural talent, they said “boy you draw great“
He made greeting cards, albums covers and such
but it didn’t make him famous, thank you very much
