Library Summer Reading Program Theme Songs
On Your Mark, Get Set ... READ!
The Collaborative Summer Library Program has announced their 2016 theme, "On Your Mark, Get Set ... READ!" to encourage students in grades K-8 to read for the summer of 2016. This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education.
Many of our artists have created wonderful songs about favorite children's books which we think your children will love! After all, music provides us with a natural and rhythmic way to learn.
The benefits of summer reading programming for children:
Children are motivated to read.
Children develop positive attitudes about reading, books, and the library.
Children maintain their reading skills during summer vacation.
Children have access to experiences that further their sense of discovery.
Children have access to experiences through which they can learn to work cooperatively.
