Big Changes
Sara Jordan Publishing

 Listen to this song.

This song is available on Prime Ministers of Canada.

Led by Brian Mulroney
The Tories won by a landslide
They had the biggest majority ever
To sit on the ruling party's side.

A leader from Baie Comeau, Quebec
He settled many native land claims
And signed a treaty with the U.S.A.
To cut down on acid rain.

He signed the Free Trade Agreement
And economic borders fell.
Placed a Goods and Services Tax
On all Canadians buy and sell.

Chorus:
Brian Mulroney brought big changes.
People say, people say.
Brian Mulroney brought big changes.
Canadians see them to this day.

Mulroney wanted Quebec
In the Constitutional fold.
Worked hard to make it happen,
Arguments both new and old.

Trying through the Meech Lake
And Charlottetown Accords,
There was not enough agreement
To bring Quebec onboard.

Chorus

He felt he'd accomplished all he could
It was time to hand over the reins
So Canada got its first woman Prime Minister
Kim Campbell was her name.

But her position at the top
Didn't last too long.
Her standing with the voters
Wasn't very strong.

Though her election loss
Saw her leadership fade,
An important piece of history
Had been made.

Chorus

This song is available on Prime Ministers of Canada.
