     Kwanzaa is an African American holiday of seven days, beginning December 26th and ending January 1st of the new year. The word "Kwanzaa" is Swahili for "the first fruits of the harvest." This African American celebration, created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966, has joined an ancient tradition of harvest festivals which happened throughout Africa.
