The brainchild of art teacher/musician Greg Percy, the music was created as a unique way to engage his elementary art students. Is Dali really serious? Is Mona Lisa the "Girl of My Dreams"? You'll go "Down to the Art Room" and learn about Calder's "World on a String". The melodic "Mondrian" will take you up and down,l eft and right. "Tints and Shades" will increase your palette, it's true. "From Matisse to You" is hip and funny. All of the music is catchy, enjoyable, and easy to remember.
Songs in the Key of Art won an award in the MSG's nationwide songwriting contest for the second year in a row. His music was also recently featured on WFUV New York as a part of their tribute to Van Gogh's 150th birthday.ARTNEWS magazine editor Carly Berwick recently ran a story about Greg's art appreciation songs and declared them a "veritable goldmine...."
