As we make our way across the sand to the sea.
We’ve just hatched, hatched, hatched.
From our eggs, eggs, eggs.
And the ocean water world is where we need to be.
We are baby sea turtles. We’ve been growing in our eggs
That our mother laid in a nest in the warm, dry sand.
And now that all of us are hatched it’s time to begin
To dash together to the sea to have our first swim.

When we scramble to the sea in the middle of the night,
We find our way with the help of the moon and starlight.
It’s our first big adventure since we’ve left our turtle nest.
And we must find a safe place in the sea before we rest.

If we are lucky we will grow up in the sea
Eating tiny shrimp, sea jellies and seaweed.
