Las galletas and Los bombones (The Cookies & The Chocolates; lyric variations of the
same melody)
These songs teach four useful gramatical structures (I like, I want, I have, give me)
and some auxiliary vocabulary (a, cookie or chocolate candy, please), with each having
their own action:
- "me gusta" - rub the tummy
- "yo quiero" - praying hands extended forward
- "yo tengo" - raised open hand closes to a fist
- "déme" - arm extended, open hand with palm up
- "una" or "un" - raised index finger
- "galleta" or "bombón" - hand makes a letter 'o'
- "por favor" - praying hands tucked under chin
I put 3 animal crackers or 3 M&Ms in a small Dixie cup for each student before class
begins and pass them out just before the song. Students take one cookie or candy after
each of the first three verses. They eat them between verses 3 and 4, during which
time, I pause the CD player. Of course, they will want to do it again, but that's up to you.
