Teaching tips from Jim Nailon:
This song teaches body parts and left/right. During the chorus, we clap with the music
and roll our shoulders to the words "los meneos." During the verses, each
successive body part (v1: hair, eyes, nose - v2: arm, hand, fingers - v3: leg, foot,
toes) is moved or wiggled as it is sung. The teacher must turn his or her back to the
students when singing and modeling the actions for verses 2 and 3 in order to establish
the left/right connection. I have my students remain in their seats for this one, where it
is easier for them to do the actions. I remain standing, but find something to hold on to
for verse 3.
Yo tengo los meneos
Yo tengo los meneos
Y no puedo estarme quieto(a)
Porque yo tengo los meneos
