Algae, Fungi, And Nonvascular Plants
Song for Teaching About Other Kinds of Plants
Lyrical Learning

This song is available on Lyrical Learning's Lyrical Life Science Volume 1

Algae and fungi, lichen, moss, and liverworts
All are nonvascular and reproduce by spores
Algae is classified by color into five groups
They can be green, or brown, golden, red, or fire

Fungi lack chlorophyll; they get energy other ways
Most by decomposing, or fermentation
If they live on dead things, they are known as saprophytes
If they feed on living things, then they’re parasites

Mushrooms and toadstools, molds and mildews, yeasts and rots
Are many kinds of fungi: some are good, some not
Lichen’s really two things living symbiotically
(Helping each other): algae and fungi

Mosses and liverworts, found in moist environments
Are simple, green, nonvascular, spore-producing plants
