Verse 1
Gennifer is a little seed buried in the ground
And as she grows there are a couple of ways for her to move around
And these innate responses in plants have a very special name
They’re called tropisms and you better learn about them
‘cause in every single plant they are the same

And plant tropisms help the plant to grow
By moving toward the light wherever it goes
Or ensuring that up is the way that it grows
We’ve got the phototropism and gravitropism is the other one
One has to do with light and the other with gravity

Verse 2
So let’s talk phototropism that’s what the first one is
It helps the plant to move into the light so that it can live
It does this using a chemical, its one that we call Auxin
It stimulates the plant to move depending on its distribution

And gravitropism helps the plant to grow upright
And it’s another mechanism that uses Auxin to come out right
So plants will grow up and they will seek out the light
Thanks to the two tropisms everything happens just right
