Verse 1
Let me tell you a little story all about the DNA
it’s the blueprint for life or at least that’s what they say
I guess it is because it is in charge of everything
That occurs naturally in your body
Its structure was discovered back in 1953
Two scientists, Watson and Crick, made the discovery
DNA takes the shape of a form we call double helix
Which looks just like a ladder that up and got twisted
Chorus
This is the ballad of DNA
From its structure to how it’s made
We can transcribe and then translate
DNA is what makes you and me
Verse 2
Each strand of DNA is made up of molecules
Their connection is what gives the strand its shape
You’ve got your thymine paired up with adenine
And your guanine goes with the cytosine
So that means each strand is a complement
Which makes it easy to replicate
First the DNA it gets unzipped and then
Each pair gets matched up with its opposite
Bridge
The backbone of the DNA is really very strong
First a phosphate then a sugar stuck in a covalent bond
Then the bases bond together to give the DNA its shape
And when all is said done you’ve got two strands of DNA
Verse 3
So now the DNA is in the nucleus
And as we all know, it’s trapped inside
So we’ve got to make a strand of RNA
Which comes from the DNA when it’s transcribed
And so the RNA it leaves the nucleus
As a long strand of amino acids
Proteins are made on the outside
The RNA is translated into peptides
