HOW AM I FEELING? ACTIVITIES
As the children are listening to this song, have them try to guess
what I am feeling along with my daughter, Rebekah (Rebekah
sings the child part in the song). I used my daughter for this
song because from day one, and probably before, she has been
able to know what mood I am in from the tone of my voice.
After the song has ended, pick a short phrase to say, and play a
guessing game with the child using different tones in your voice.
For example: "I'm going to the store" or "It's time for bed." Be
as animated as you can be; it’s great if you add facial and body
gestures since it is all connected to non-verbal language. In a
group setting the same idea applies. One child can stand up in
front of the group and let the other children guess if they sound
angry, happy or sad.
It is all right if a child does not want to participate, just let
them observe the rest of the group. You can let the rest of the
group know that if a child is quiet, perhaps they are letting us
know that they are feeling shy.
