Turtle Rap
Song for Teaching About Reptiles
Stephanie Burton

This song is available on Stephanie Burton's The Curiosity Shop.

I’m a reptile with cold blood, (echo)
I hibernate in deep, deep, mud, (echo)
Though I walk so very slow, (echo)
I take my house everywhere I go.

I eat (echo)
Bugs and (echo)
Small plants (echo)
Yum - Yum (say together)

I’m a reptile with cold blood, (echo)
I hibernate in deep, deep, mud, (echo)
If I’m scared I’m sure to hide, (echo)
In my shell I hide inside, (echo)

I eat (echo)
Bugs and (echo)
Small plants (echo)
Yum- Yum (say together)

Activity for "Turtle Rap"
Tell the children to listen to the clues in this song about a reptile. Play the song “Turtle Rap” from The Curiosity Shop by Stephanie Burton and Phyllis Campbell. You will notice that the song never mentions which reptile it is. Have some pictures of a turtle and other reptiles and animals and see if the children can use the clues to the song to guess which one is being sung about.
