The Ramona Quimby Blues
Inspired by the book Ramona Quimby, Age 8 by Beverly Cleary
Song by Sam Jones

This song is available on Sam Jones' Songs About Popular Children’s Books, Vol 2.

(to the tune of “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out”)

The day was so dreary
And dismal too
Ramona was discouraged
She didn’t know what to do
The rain was pelting
Down the window pane
The whole family was cross
Would they ever talk again

Mrs. Quimby told Ramona
To clean up her room
Sulkily she did it
Indignant and blue
Finally her father
Knew just what to do
They went to Whopperburger
To forget about their gloom
Ramona’s got the blues
So does her whole family
It ain’t good when you got the blues

At the restaurant the family was companionable
Their hearts were happy and their bellies were full
Then to their astonishment
A man paid for their meals
And that gave them big smiles
That were real so real
Real, real genuine smiles Oh yeah!
