If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it,
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands
Additional verses:
…stomp your feet…
…nod your head…
…shout hooray…
…do all four…

Expansion Activities for this Song
Encourage children to do the actions indicated by the song's words. Talk about other emotions-sad, happy, angry, surprised. Ask children to make faces showing these emotions. How would their
voices sound? Invite children to use some of these ideas in the song.
Examples might include "If you're sad and you know it, cry boo-hoo" or "If you're mad and you know it, stomp your feet."
Have children discuss other ways to feel. What movements and sounds could be used to show a person is hungry, tired, or silly?
Invite children to use instruments in the song. For example, "If you're happy and you know it, play your drum ... If you're happy and you know it, then your instrument will show it. If you're happy and you know it, play your drum."
Science
Encourage children to measure the ingredients and observe changes as they make feelings cookies from the recipe on the next page (included with Music Explosion). Offer children raisins and string licorice to use for faces that are happy, sad, angry, surprised, or another emotion.
Math
Make emotion faces for the flannel board. Place three faces showing the same emotion and one face showing a different emotion on the flannel board. Ask children to pick the one that is different. Or make patterns with the faces and ask children to complete the pattern. For example, place a happy face, sad face, happy face, and a sad face on the flannel board. Ask children to add the face that comes next.
