I was hiking on a glacier near the town of Lake Louise
When the strangest sound I’d ever heard began to frightened me
It was coming from a crevasse and I swear that it’s a fact
I slipped right down and landed on a woolly mammoth’s back.
CHORUS
Yes it’s true...I’m telling you....
That woolly mammoth was a sight to see
Yes it’s true...I’m telling you....
That woolly mammoth said these words to me.
“I think I fell asleep about a million years ago
Not knowing at the moment it would snow and snow and snow
This glacier is a problem ‘cause I just cannot get free
And if it doesn’t melt soon it will be the end of me.”
CHORUS
“I’ve seen the snowy firn change slowly into solid ice
And the marmot who lives by the edge is really very nice
But I have a simple longing and it just won’t go away
I want this ice to disappear so I can run and play.”
CHORUS
“Before this whole thing started my dear family roamed around
We’d butt our heads together and make loud, ferocious sounds
But now there are no others, I am the only one
I still hope someday to be free so I can have some fun.”
CHORUS
“I think you should be going now my only human friend
Just climb out through the crevasse quick before it seals again
And when you reach the comfort of your warm and comfy bed
Just wipe these drowsy memories from your sleepy little head.”
CHORUS
Yes it’s true...I’m telling you....
That woolly mammoth was a sight to see
Yes it’s true...I’m telling you....
That woolly mammoth said those words to me.
