Writing proofs is easy, all you do is make a plan
To get to where you’re going, start with what you’ve been given
Be sure to tell us every single step that you would take
And then to justify every decision that you’ve made
You’ll use the rules and theorems to explain all that you do
As you write the plan of action, this is what we call a proof
So when you’re done you’ll have a bunch of statements and reasons

So say we have a triangle with two congruent sides
We want to show the base angles have the exact same size
To do this we would start by drawing a picture that meets
The givens our triangle it is an isosceles
I would start by drawing in one of the altitudes
To create two right triangles because that is what they do
So we have the two right angles and we know the sides are equal
And the altitude we drew bisects the vertex angle

So can say that the triangles both have the same size
Because of AAS that is angle angle side
And I know that CPCTC it will let me say
That the two base angles must be exactly the same
