Oh Gravity is a force
It moves us just like a horse
and if it weren't for the ground you know
It's down to the middle of the Earth we'd go
Oh Gravity pulls on every little bit of everything
It pulls us down it pulls around together the mass it brings
Gravity's here, gravity's there, gravity's pretty much everywhere....
It's proportional to the product of the masses divided by the distance
Now gravity's the force that makes the planets spin and dance
Around the mighty massive sun that holds us with its glance
But anytime an apple falls to ground, or you say words like "up" and "down"
That's gravity working too!
Now if you measure out the mass, how much there is of stuff
You multiply the masses, but that's not quite enough
You must divide by distance squared, that's how much room between the pair
From center point to point!
And if you double up the mass you also double weight
'Cause weight's the force of gravity which you can calculate
But if you flew into outer space, twice as far then stood in place
You'd weigh a fourth as much!
Now if you took a spaceship and you stood up on the moon
You'd feel so very light that you would bounce like a balloon
Cause even though you're closer in, the poor ol' moon can hardly win,
It's a hundredth of Earth's mass!
