Well here's a song that I wrote for you and it's not from outer space
It's a little ol' thing called Algebra and it's found all over the place
It starts with a kind of expression, that contains the alphabet
Don't worry they stand for something, so don't break out in a sweat
So, you start out with an expression, say, x minus 2
Then you set it equal to say 21, there's mental math, it's true
But you just can't add to 21, And leave x out under the sun
WHAT YOU DO TO ONE SIDE, YOU DO TO THE OTHERRR
Equations are like a seesaw with folks on either side
You can freely go add, subtract, multiply, or divide
But don't operate only on the right, or lefty's sent in flight
WHAT YOU DO TO ONE SIDE, YOU DO TO THE OTHERRR
WHAT YOU DO TO ONE SIDE, YOU DO TO THE OTHERRR
When you’re solvin’ equations, all over the nations
YOU BALANCE, YOU BALANCE
But when you simplify expressions there is only one progression:
REDUCE THE TERMS AND SIMPLIFY (do phrase x2)
Say Algebra ! (Algebra!)
Algebra ! (Algebra!)
Yea Algebra! (woo!)
So that's the end of my story, but it's not the story's end
Cause if you don't keep equations in balance, injuries, they happen, my friend
So the moral of the story is to balance both sides
And don't send anyone soaring high (if you know what I mean…)
WHAT YOU DO TO ONE SIDE, YOU DO TO THE OTHERRR (yeehaa!) / (woooo)
WHAT YOU DO TO ONE SIDE, YOU DO TO THE OTHERRRRRRRRRR!
