I saw some awesome fossils at the dinosaur museum
They really are amazing and I'm glad I got to see 'em
They've got a diorama filled with models that looked real to me,
Now no one's seen a dinosaur but we know all about 'em
Cause scientists use fossils to get clues, and who could doubt 'em?
Now we know so much about the way our planet used to be
Fossils help us turn back the clock
More than just a piece of rock!
Chorus:
Those awesome fossils, are the way we know
About what earth was like so long ago
Some are collossal, some are really small
It's wonderful to study 'em all
Make no bones about it
Wow we're finding out about fossils
A fossil's the remains of plants and animals that died out
They've been preserved in rock where they get min'ralized and dried out
A bone, tooth footprint, or a leaf or shell or piece of scat.
Scientists who work with all these clues to ancient history
Are called paleontologists, and they can solve the mystery
Of life on earth in prehistoric times, and I would like to do that
When I grow up I wanna be
Doing paleontology!
Chorus
It's so fascinating - to see what's in the dust down in the earth's crust
Let's go excavating - we might find something big.
Can you dig it?
