Sedimentary Metamorphic Igneous
Song for Teaching about Types of Rocks
Kathleen Wiley
This song is available on Kathleen Wiley's Science Songs

Well, sedimentary means layers,
More than one and more than two.
Just like a peanut butter sandwich
That I make for me and you.
You take the bread and the peanut butter
And then the jam and the jelly and some honey
Or some other gooey substance to make the layers
Like the sedimentary rocks do.
But metamorphic means change
Caused from heat and pressure too.
Yes, metamorphic means change
Caused from heat and pressure too.
Just like the moth and the butterfly,
That change from caterpillar to something that'll fly.
Metamorphic means change
Caused from heat and pressure too.
But igneous means no pressure...
It melts and cools, you see.
Yes, igneous just melts and cools
And all for you and me.
We've got obsidian and then basalt
And many others that we ought
To learn, but now our song is all through.
