I have a rock, so hard and gray,
I wonder if it'll float today?
I drop it in the water, splash!
It sinks right down, a little flash!
(Chorus)
Buoyancy, buoyancy!
That push-up force inside the sea!
It tries to lift things from below,
To make them stay and not to go!
But look at this, a big log, see?
It's heavy as can be!
I put it in the water, plop!
It floats right there, right on the top!
The log is lighter for its size,
It floats right up before our eyes!
But the little rock is heavy for its space,
So it sinks down without a trace!
(Chorus)
A tiny boat can float so well,
While a small coin goes down to tell
That buoyancy has rules to play,
On what will sink and what will stay!
(Chorus)
