Verse #1
The Revolution started back in 1775
With Paul Revere’s long ride to warn that British were close by
“The shot heard round the world” was fired next in Concord
How did this war begin that lasted eight long years or more

Chorus
Revolution, Revolution
The American, the American Revolution

Verse #2
The colonists were taxed so much that they refused to pay
Some even had a “tea party” and threw the tea away
They wanted a republic and to be self-governing
Declaring independence, they rebelled against the king

Chorus

Verse #3
Oh Thomas Paine and Franklin both concurred we should be free
But Loyalists or Tories for the king did not agree
The colonists were Patriots led by George Washington
The British were the Redcoats with their bayonets and guns

Chorus

Verse #4
So battle after battle raged, at last the Patriots won
Their fellow friends the minutemen helped get this big job done
America, a self-created new nation begun
A shining model to the world for many years to come

Chorus
Revolution...Revolution...
