Crazy Polygon Shapes
Zach Burba

Listen to the Crazy Polygon Shapes song.

This song is available on "ABC's & Much More."

LYRICS:
MOVEMENTS:

What you gonna do when you’re looking at a square?

How can you tell if it’s even there?

Just count four total sides and they’re all the same length.

Talking ‘bout four crazy sides & four boogie woogie shapes.

Have the children stand in a large circle and pass out the shape sheets so that each child has one (or two). Do free movement with the music.
The child with the square shape holds the shape high up over head while the other children hold 4 fingers up.

Everyone wiggle hips down to the ground on “boogie woogie shapes.”

What are you going to do when you find a rectangle?

What are you going to say?

How are you going to be able?

Well, it looks like a square, but it got all stretched out!

We’ve got four crazy sides and four boogie woogie shapes.

The child with the rectangle shape holds the shape high up over head, while the other children hold 4 fingers up.

Everyone wiggle hips down to the ground on “boogie woogie shapes.”

How can you tell if there’s a rhombus around?.....

The child with the rhombus shape holds the shape high up over head, while the other children hold 4 fingers up.

Everyone wiggle hips down to the ground on “boogie woogie shapes.”

What can you do about a trapezoid.....

The child with the trapezoid shape holds the shape high up over head, while the other children hold 4 fingers up.

Everyone wiggle hips down to the ground on “boogie woogie shapes.

Now other crazy polygons, are different you will see.
They can have all sorts of sides, so listen carefully.
We’ve got: 5 sides PENTAGON
6 sides HEXAGON
7 sides HEPTAGON
8 sides OCTAGON

That’s: 5 sides PENTAGON
6 sides HEXAGON
7 sides HEPTAGON
8 sides OCTAGON
Well now that I have told you, this hip polygon beat.

It’s your turn to tell me, so listen and repeat!

It’s: 5 sides PENTAGON
6 sides HEXAGON
7 sides HEPTAGON
8 sides OCTAGON
That’s: 5 sides PENTAGON
6 sides HEXAGON
7 sides HEPTAGON
8 sides OCTAGON

The child with the referenced shape holds the shape high up over head, while the other children say the appropriate sides and shape.

Children are to say the shape name in response.

This song is available on "ABC's & Much More."
