Here’s a rap to help you learn how plurals are made
Words with different endings have rules you should obey
You’ll change words from singular to plural with ease
If you say this rap; let’s start, if you please
Most nouns are made plural by just adding s
Words such as cats, dogs, hamsters, and pets
Endings with sh, ch, z, x, or s
Add es like bushes, buzzes, or boxes
How do words become plural that end with o
With a vowel before the o, add s like patios
With a consonant o, you add es like echoes
Music terms and Spanish words add s like tacos
Nouns with f or fe, make plurals that digress
f is changed to v and then you add es
Calf becomes calves and wife becomes wives
Leaf becomes leaves and knife becomes knives
Now for nouns that end with a consonant y
Change the y to i and add es like skies
If a vowel’s before the y, add s, like days
Now you know the rules, but there’s one more way
When you make some words plural, they change totally
Child becomes children and foot becomes feet
Tooth becomes teeth and man becomes men
There are many more, but we have reached the end
