Written by Fred Gee with Mrs. Eisenman’s 1991/92 Grade 3 Class
Watson-Williams School, Utica, NY
Our teacher is a little odd there is no doubt it’s true
At ten o’clock each morning there’s one thing she likes to do
She opens up her closet and talks to Mr. Bones
She says he gets quite lonely even though he is at home.
CHORUS:
The skeleton in the closet is a sight to see
When our teacher talks to him it is a mystery
She calls him Mr. Bones because he has no skin
And he hangs on to every word as if she were his friend.
I remember when she told him “I think my lesson’s dull
So if you don’t mind helping me I’d like to use your skull
There’s so much I could show them like where you kept your brain
I’d never think of asking you if I thought you’d feel some pain.”
CHORUS
One morning she was crying “Mr. Bones I’m very sad
My class did terrible on the test and I feel really mad
They forgot my favorite lesson about why we have a spine
Can’t they see it helps support the back like I’ve said a dozen times.
CHORUS
It was a gloomy morning we won’t forget that day
Our teacher was astounded she didn’t know what to say
Mr Bones said “See my rib cage it protected my lungs and heart
And you know that’s what your teacher said she’s not only odd she’s smart”.
