Abracadabra
Joe Scruggs
Listen to this song.
This song is available on Joe Scruggs' Abracadabra.
I was sitting at the table
And I said:
"Shoot the butter down this way.
'Cause I need some on my bread."
Mom picked up the butter, to pass it
my way;
But she said:
"First, there's a magic word
I think you should say!"
Well, I thought about it, and I said:
"Well, I've heard
That Abracadbra
Is a good magic word!"
And Mom said:
"Abracadabra is not exactly
The word that I had in mind!
Oh, it's a magic word.
Rest assured,
Magicians use it all of the time!
But, 'PLEASE' and 'NO, THANK YOU'
'YES, MA'AM'
and 'NO, SIR'
Are the words that need to be said.
Especially,
If you'd like to see,
Some of this butter on your bread."
The candy-counter lady said:
"Would you like to try
Some of the finest chocolates
Money can buy?"
I took a candy from the sample tray.
And that's when my mom said.
"Now, what do you say?"
Well, I thought about it for a little bit.
And I said,
"Well, I guess I say 'Charge It'".
And Mom said:
"Son, you know 'Charge It' are not exactly
The words that I had in mind!
Oh, they're magic words.
Rest assured:
I use them all time!
But, 'PLEASE' and 'NO, THANK YOU'
'YES, MA'AM and 'NO, SIR'
Are the words that you need to say.
When someone offers
You some candy
From the sample tray!
Now, when should I say it?
And, what should I say?
Oh! Sometimes there's so much to learn!
But magic words
Like 'PLEASE' and 'THANK YOU'
Are what make this old world turn.
And, yes! 'ABRACADABRA'
And 'CHARGE IT' have
Their own special magic, too!
When you're being polite,
The words that are right
Are good, old 'PLEASE' and 'THANK YOU'!
And, yes! 'ABRACADABRA'
And 'CHARGE IT' have
Their own special magic, too!
But, when you're being polite,
The words that are right
Are good, old 'PLEASE' and 'THANK YOU'!!!!!!
