Math - The Box Songs

Song For Teaching Math - Lyrics and Sound Clip
Kathleen Wiley

This song is available on Kathleen Wiley's Math - The Box Songs

 Vocal      Instrumental

WHEN THE BOX IS IN THE FRONT

When the box is in the front and it's takeaway
Just remember it's an adding problem, every day
But when the box is other places
You can smile or just make faces
You're remembering you follow signs and takeaway!!

Vocal      Instrumental

WHEN YOU'RE ADDING BOXES

When you're adding boxes
You're really subtracting
So be smart like foxes
Don't let it be distracting
But when the box is on the right
Then go ahead and add them and don't get uptight...!!

EXPLANATIONS:

WHEN THE BOX IS IN THE FRONT
- 6 = 8 or - 8 = 6
When the box is in the front and it's takeaway
Just remember it's an adding problem everyday
(8 + 6 = or 6 + 8 = )
You add 8 + 6 or 6 + 8 and you get 14...
so thus it reads 14 - 6 = 8 or 14 - 8 = 6
But when the box is other places
(14 - 6 =   or 14 - = 8
You just subtract 14 - 6 or 14 - 8)
You can smile or just make faces
You're remembering you follow signs
And takeaway

WHEN YOU'RE ADDING BOXES
 + 6 = 8
6 +   = 8
When you're adding boxes
You're really subtracting
( So in both cases it would be 8 - 6 =)
So be smart like foxes
Don't let it be distracting But when the box is on the right...
(6 + 2 = or 2 + 6 = )
Then go ahead and add them ( 6 + 2 = 8 or 2 + 6 = 8)
And don't get uptight...
