Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur Songs

Songs for Celebrating the Jewish High Holy Days

Passover Songs

Rosh Hashanah (which literally means “head of the year”) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) are considered our Jewish High Holy days. The usually occur in the early Fall. Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the Jewish spiritual year. We celebrate by eating apples and honey and things that are sweet. Yom Kippur is one of the holiest days on the Jewish calendar. We often wear white, stay at the synagogue all day praying and fast from sundown to sundown that day. A ram’s horn (called a shofar) is blown in the synagogue as part of the ritual on both of these holidays. And we wish each other Shanah Tovah (a good year).
