Marsha Goodman-Wood

Marsha Goodman-Wood

Marsha and the Positrons are a DC-based kindie (kids + indie rock) band known for shows that are a ton of family-friendly fun! Both playful and educational, our original songs about science and how the world works are entertaining for adults as well as kids. Besides getting audiences singing along and dancing to songs that inspire curiosity about science, we play traditional favorites, kid-appropriate pop covers and parodies. Our goal is to send families home with smiles on their faces, plant the seeds for good conversations, and share our positive energy with the audience!

Marsha Goodman-Wood is a singer/songwriter, music and drama teacher, mother of three, and former cognitive neuroscientist. Marsha’s debut solo album Gravity Vacation contains fun original songs about science & how the world works and has garnered critical praise and several songwriting award nominations.

Marsha has performed at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the National Children's Museum, Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore, and the Long Island Children's Museum. She plays regularly at venues in the DC/MD/VA area that offer family entertainment, as well as libraries, schools, fairs and festivals. She has been a Washington Post Going Out Guide editors' pick and has received radio airplay nationwide, both over the air and online.

"Goodman-Wood was no ordinary children's singer...She was very, very good. Her clear voice reminded me of Carole King, as did her very curly hair.  Her stage presence was lively without being grating, a highly delicate balance for a children's performer."
